Courtyard garden gallery

Here you'll find a case study of a courtyard garden from initial design drawing, through clearing the site, construction and the final garden.

This garden was very overgrown and great deal of greenery, including ivy on every wall was removed. All the planting beds were weeded and those plants retained were pruned and/or shaped. The raised beds were retained and a new triangular shaped pergola erected. Cracked and broken paving slabs were removed and replaced with new in some areas and 20mm Chard Flint laid over the rest of the courtyard. The decorative stone was laid over a landscaping membrane to prevent weed growth. The new paving was laid on a full mortar bed on top of the existing substanial sub-base.

An existing pergola approximately 3m long was refurbished and strenthened with new vines planted to grow over this structure.

A new gate and gate posts were installed. All existing paving and stone of the raised beds were power washed.

A small water feature was installed and some ornamental grasses planted into the gravelled area. Some new additional plants were planted in the raised beds. The number of large pots was reduced and those remaining reorganised by size, color and material.
